KELSIE'S SURPRISE HEADBOARD

For the last few months Kelsie and I have been planning the redecorating of her bedroom. We bought her a twin bed to replace the queen bed. Which we put in Trevor's old room. We bought her a new Vintage style bedspread and sham. So we needed to get a head board for the bed. We talked about making one but it stopped there. A few months ago I ordered this fabric from Miya Design where I also bought the bedspread and sham. Last week I took the fabric, measurements and a picture I had found to my brother Kevins. He helped me make the wood frame backing of this headboard. He is very talented and so I just assisted him and did the cleaning up afterwords. So this week I have been working on the rest of it while Kelsie was at school or drill. I had to drill holes in the back part of the wood so I could fasten the buttons. Then I cut foam to fit the backboard and hot glued it on. Next I wrapped the fabric around the legs and from the front of the headboard to the back and stapled it on. It worked pretty good and quite fast. The last part was the hardest part of the project. I had to do the tufting. After no sleep trying to figure it out and trying things that didn't work I got on the internet and learned how to do it. Thanks to technology and Troy I figured it out. We got upholstery thread (a very strong thread) and threaded the front button. Then from the back we had to put a screw driver threw the hole and the foam to the fabric where we put the needle from the front. We used the screw driver to guide the needle back threw the hole. We then put the thread threw another small button on the back and pulled hard tell it was tight and tied it. So this is the final project! The best part Kelsie was surprised and loved it.

Our next project will be a dressed. You'll just have to wait and see what we come up with.
